This year is getting weirder and weirder with events being cancelled and safety practices becoming more important. Because of social distancing and staying home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, I am going to skip this year’s Crush the Commonwealth. BUT, in spirit of the Marines, trying our find a way to make something happen with what we have, I propose to still do the ride – only virtually.
Rides are getting longer and I am deep in logistics mode. This year has spun up fast and the planning for Crush the Commonwealth is in full swing. Reservations are being made, transportation is being coordinated – and then along comes the Corona Virus – thanks Fucker…
I always do better when I put pressure on myself by telling others of my intent.
With that being said, at 5a on April 24th, 2020 – I will be toeing the line at the Liberty Bell for the 2020 Crush the Commonwealth. With the rides and races that are on my list, this event is going to be a great opportunity to build mental toughness, skills, and experience for longer events.
The Sourland Semi-Classic has repeatedly reminded me of how bad I feel on hard early season rides and gives me the solid kick in the ass needed to get prepared for the rest of the season. That being said – it was a GREAT time and was the gauge I needed for what is still to come.
But what is a semi-classic you might ask…
