This blog has gone through many fits and starts. Beer-focused. Technology-focused. Climbing-focused. Kayak-focused. But I have kept the site and spun it up when I really felt impassioned by something in my life.

My life has gone back to sports and riding, running, and swimming. I have done a few triathlons, training for a few more. I’ve attempted some long distance bikepacking events. Ran a couple of marathons and am training for a couple of ultras this upcoming year. I spend enough time doing technology on a day-to-day basis that I don’t need to write about it or spend time outside of work thinking about it any longer. I want to spend my downtime thinking and working towards things that work enables me to accomplish.

Really it comes to my want and desire to do something everyday that either beats me up or scares me. I have gratitude for where I am and what I am able to accomplish. There are so many stories of people holding off on doing things until they retire. Work hard now and you will be able to do anything you want in the future. I call bullshit on that theory. My dad worked his ass off and was dead before he got the chance to retire and enjoy all of his hard work. No male in my family has made it past 60 and I am sprinting towards that finish line. The other phrase is “I will start tomorrow”, pretty soon tomorrow becomes never and you end up with a regret. So I have to be thankful for all of the opportunities I have now and make sure to take advantage of them while I can.

But really, when it comes right down to it, I am no different than anyone else out there. I am probably very similar to you. I like ice cream. I love to snowboard, but am not so good that people would notice me. I get outside as much as I can, whether it is walking the dogs or actually getting into the woods. I am a beater in a kayak, I swam in Class III water not too long ago.

But I am still getting out there with a close group of friends every chance I can. I’ll see you out there.
